kindness tokens
Overview
Kindness Tokens are one of our new projects to help in the continued spread of kindness. Once you have a token, you pass it on as you see someone do something kind.
After meeting Marilyn Griffitts, at the Greater Love Networking dinner, she presented an idea to us. She was traveling in CO and had a woman compliment her, then hand her a little wooden token. The idea was to pass along the token while doing something kind. Marilyn loved this idea and she brought it to NIKP hoping we could recreate it in Coeur d’Alene.
How They Work
Right now, we have tokens organically going around the community. In the future, we hope to have them at business and community locations to pick up free of charge to hand out.
If you receive a Kindness Token – good job! You did something kind! From there, the concept is simple – pass the token to someone else you see showing kindness. Invite them to keep it moving through our community.
Thank you for helping us build awareness s and acknowlegment of all the good that exists in your community!

One of the reasons it was so easy to say, “Yes!” to this project, is that it fit so well into the NIKP model. Do you have a project you think would fit within the NIKP mission? Let us know. We love taking on projects that have:
- Low costs, but can touch many lives
- Can be easily funded through small sponsorships
- Can be managed by a small, but committed, volunteer force
- Align with our mission, “The North Idaho Kindness Project preserves strong and welcoming neighborhoods through projects that promote kindness and human connection”
