about us

North Idaho Kindness Project focuses on 100% proactive work creating positive community connections.  We maintain five key programs, the Kindness Campaign (our kindness declaration), our Kindness Art Contest, Kindness Cards, Kindness Tokens and our Kindness Quarterly newsletter. Additional programming that facilitates community connections varies from year to year. We are deeply non-partisan.

The North Idaho Kindness Project (formerly Love Lives Here CDA) was started in 2018 in response to incidents of bigotry in our community with the intention of reminding and recommitting our community of the goodness and kindness that exsits here.  We partnered with Western States Center, the Human Rights Education Institute and North Idaho Pride Alliance in getting our kindness campaign written and helping facilitate sign-ons to our kindness campaign.

In 2024 with over 300 businesses, organizations and individual sign ups, as well as experimenting with other kindness programs such a few Global Love Day events, beach ball kindness pop-ups, 4th of July parade appearances, kindness art competition and more, we decided to step out and create our own non-profit organization as the North Idaho Kindness Project.

Throughout our entire time, starting as a grassroots project until today as a non-profit, we are 100% volunteer-ran. Many of our volunteers work regular jobs in addition to working on the North Idaho Kindness Project. We have minimal expenses and we rely on donations and merchandise sales to run our programming. We have learned that with these two revenue streams we are able to facilitate our program offerings to the community at no charge.

our mission

North Idaho Kindness Project preserves strong and welcoming neighborhoods through projects that promote kindness and human connection.

Vision

We are committed to preserving strong neighborhoods through actions that promote kindness. In thriving communities, both local and national, it requires that people recognize and support their shared interests. Aligning with that premise, we believe that kind acts nurture those neighborly bonds, protect our communities, and preserve shared common goals. The best first step to creating kind interactions is welcoming others into your space, regardless of differences or perceived differences.

      Values

The North Idaho Kindness Project emphasizes positive values such as kindness, respect, community engagement and connection. The organization provides opportunities to individuals and businesses to embody these principles in their daily lives, fostering a more welcoming community.

We value efficiency and fiscal responsibility. Through our initiatives, we promote small actions and projects that have low costs but that make large impacts. We also place high emphasis on making volunteer hours productive and efficient. We focus on proactive work and do not put energy into reactive work.
